Abbiategrasso

Italian municipality of about 32 thousand inhabitants, Abbiategrasso, in the province of Milan, is one of the main centers of the Parco della Valla del Ticino: the territory is in fact entirely crossed by the great river but also by the canals, which lead directly "by water" with the Lombard capital. The very name of the city reflects the great presence of rivers and streams. The name Abbiategrasso derives from the Celtic Abia (water), so the translation ("place of water") highlights the presence of the numerous water courses. But the town of Abbiategrasso is not just rivers, streams and natural places of unparalleled beauty. There are numerous historical and artistic beauties that can be appreciated in the streets of the historic center. The most famous is certainly the Church dedicated to San Bernardino, which is one of the most important examples of the typical Lombard Baroque; but don't miss the guided tour of Casa Albini, a 15th century frescoed building located in the historic center and of Casa Paquet, where tools and machinery used for metalworking are still clearly visible.
